V4.4.0 – Mastering Languages Based on Data

App: https://app.lingostand.com/

V4.4.0 is out! 🥳 here are some recent improvements that come with the new release

New Progress Screen based on Pronunciation Data

About a year ago we pushed the voice recognition feature, using Speech Recognition technology we started to capture and scoring the user’s pronounciation per word

However until recently we did not do much with it (I was focused on my previous job), until now…

  • In release v4.3.0 we replaced the Flashcard view by the Progress view. The idea is to show user’s progress on learning new vocabulary through data, provide a way for them to see their weakpoints and an optimized way to take action.
  • Each words presents a “Mastery Score” which is updated each time a user pronunces a word in any sentence that contains that word, and categorize a word into 2 buckets: Learning or Learned

Optimized practice button based on words that need more practice

  • Version 4.4.0 is out, and introduces the new take action “Practice” button. When clicked, a series of sentences are presented to the user for them to practice, focusing on

Mastery score based on pronounciation data?

  • The mastery score is calculated using statistical concepts such as Average, Normalization, Progress and Consistency to determined user’s current Mastery of the score and rate of progress.

Upcoming

  • In the upcoming days, I will be working on: Simplifying the UI/UX to focus the app on content Creation, Generation and Importing in a conversational manner. Currently is very confusing for user’s to start using it (DM me if you are interesting on playing with the current version and do not know where to start)
